About Rob Bohning Photography

My love for photography began when I was 15. I would spend countless hours capturing fall foliage and nature with my film SLR. Growing up in a home where my Mom was an artist and my Dad was a chemist, I learned to appreciate photography as both an art and a science. My approach today is still the same. It all begins with what my eye sees, and ends up in an image rendered the way I remember when I was there. To me, the essence of photography is capturing the emotion and feeling of the moment when the shutter was open. When that is achieved, the memory is preserved. Rob has served in the Marine Corps and worked in the electronic hardware and software engineering fields as an applications engineer. The same attention to detail required in those fields are present in his approach to photography, which is to photograph with planning and purpose. Rob takes great passion and pleasure in capturing the essence and wonder in God's awesome creation and taking you on a virtual journey to experience it.
Some of Rob's recent published work includes images in the Yosemite Conservancy magazine, images from the Eastern Sierra featured in Mono County's Tourism Calendars and the Mono County Visitor's Guide Magazine. Rob is also a supporting photographer for the Convict Lake Resort in the Eastern Sierra.

"Photography is an extremely personal thing. Especially when a photograph is transformed into a work of art. Not all images will resonate with all individuals. For some, it is the tranquility of an image that provides a connection. For others, its the photo's ability to convey the feel of the surf between your toes or smell of the air. For yet others, it can take you back to a special place with family. But when the essence of the image captivaties you, it becomes magical.

It is therefore my great joy and passion to experience the beauty of God's creation and to provide lasting works of art by capturing nature's soul on print."
